OCTOBER – MONTH OF THE HOLY ROSARY
Please note that during the month of October, the Holy Rosary and the Litany of Our Lady will be recited before every Mass.
Please bring your Rosary and try to say it regularly during this special month of grace and devotion to the Blessed Virgin. Five mysteries of Our Lord’s life, or those of His Holy Mother are the subject of meditation every day. After the Sacrifice of the Mass itself, the Rosary is the most powerful prayer that we possess. In the Apparitions of Fatima, the centenary of which we keep this year, Our Lady asked us to say it every day.

WORLD MISSION SUNDAY
Today is Mission Sunday when we pray particularly for Catholic Missions and missionaries throughout the world, who, often in difficult situations bring the Gospel and the Catholic Faith to the various people of the world. The Church in England and Wales is asked to pray for the Missions in South Sudan and for peace in that region. There are boxes at the back of the church and envelopes if you would like to make a contribution. On this Sunday, the Universal Church highlights her Missionary vocation. Guided by the Holy Spirit, the Church realizes she is called to pursue the work of Our Saviour Himself, proclaiming the gospel of the Kingdom of God, which is “righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit” (Romans 14:17.) This Kingdom is already present in the world as a force of love, freedom, solidarity and respect for the dignity of every person, and the Church has a heartfelt urge to work so that the Sovereignty of Christ may be completely fulfilled. We remember Our Lord’s parting words: “Go out into the whole world, proclaim the good news and baptize all nations in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

50 YEARS OF THE 1967 ABORTION ACT
The Bishop of Lancaster has reminded us this week that you cannot be Catholic and not be PRO-LIFE. All life is sacred from the cradle to the grave and particularly the unborn child in the womb. Since the Steele 1967 Abortion Act, 8 million unborn children have been killed in our country. It is a terrible and frightening indictment on a so called “civilized society”. We have destroyed our future and Europe now is getting older and older with not enough children being born to ensure the future of our civilization.
On Friday morning at 9.30am, the Mass will be one of reparation for all those lost lives of innocent children, but also of prayer for women, who are so often, victims themselves.

RED MISSION BOXES “MISSIO”
Could you please leave your red collection box in the porch of St Birinus (or at the back of the church in Berinsfield) when next you come to Mass? The boxes will be emptied, the money counted and the boxes returned to the porch for the following weekend.  If this is not convenient and you would like your box collected,  please ’phone Sally Collins on 01865 340167 or Meg Fisher on 01865 340355. With many thanks for your financial support and prayers for the Missions.

From the Catechism of the Catholic Church
“Before Christ’s Second Coming, the Church must pass through a final trial that will shake the faith of many believers. The persecution that accompanies our pilgrimage on earth will unveil the “mystery of iniquity” in the form of a religious deception offering men and women an apparent solution to their problems, at the price of apostasy from the Truth. The supreme religious deception is that of Antichrist, or pseudo-messianism, by which man glorifies himself in place of GOD, and of His Messiah come in the Flesh.”   Catechism of the Catholic Church 675.
